The saviour of the garden party

2009-04-07

With British summertime now upon us, we are all wondering if this year will provide perfect garden party weather, without the familiar dash for shelter or complete wash out to hamper proceedings.

Due to the unpredictability of the English summertime, Scotts of Thrapston has noticed an increasing demand for a larger than average summerhouse, perfect for entertaining a number of guests in all seasons.

The designers at Scotts have responded to this demand by designing the company’s largest ever octagonal summerhouse, which they have called The Burghley. Ideal for alfresco dining and stretching those lazy summer days long in to the evening, The Burghley can comfortably seat 6 – 8 people, also making it ideal for hosting a dinner party in the garden.

And, with the increasing trend amongst us for growing our own salad and vegetables, it is even more appealing to eat our own home grown produce in the garden environment ~ literally from turf to table in seconds!

The Burghley, like The Baltimore, its smaller sibling, has casement windows and lockable doors that can be opened up in the warmer weather, yet providing invaluable shelter during cooler seasons. Clearly, summerhouses are becoming an extension to our properties and being able to sit in them and entertain all year round, whether for dinner parties or coffee mornings, is ever more appealing.

The Burghley comes with an attractive cedar shingle roof and striking copper finial, as standard, plus three charming diamond leaded windows on the rear panels. As with all of the Scotts summerhouses, there are a variety of options to choose from, such as a range of colour finishes and upholstery options, along with extra accessories to order that include storage features and an ingenious rotating base, allowing The Burghley to make the most of the much hoped for sunshine.
