Planning Permission for your stables

Planning permission is invariably required for most stable yards, however small or large, and advice on presenting your application and handling the bureaucracy is part of the Scotts service. An appreciation of surrounding architecture, ground levels and sight lines is key to a successful application and Scotts personnel will certainly help when it comes to designing your stables to meet planning requirements.

Following an initial consultation with Scotts, a guide price quotation for your stable block or American barn will be produced for your consideration. A full set of drawings, of your stables, can then be supplied to accompany a planning application. These drawings are chargeable at a rate of £250 - £500 plus VAT, dependant on the project, and will be refundable on placing your order.

In particularly sensitive areas, however, Scotts may well recommend that you seek advice on your planned new stables from a planning consultant, and at an early stage.

Design of your new stable yard

After an initial consultation, Scotts will assist you in careful positioning of loose boxes, tack rooms, feed rooms, haystores and all equestrian buildings, along with siting of access paths and the overall orientation of the stables. Careful and sympathetic design will ensure the stables blend in with existing buildings and surroundings, thus adding value to your property.

Personalisation of your stables is also easily attainable by working with Scotts. Clock towers, clocks and weather vanes all add interest to the stables and architectural features such as aged oak posts or hipped roofs can complete a stable yard design which is uniquely yours.

Manufacture of your stable block

The stables, equestrian buildings or American barn, and all of their ancillary structural components, are manufactured in Scotts’ purpose built factory in Thrapston. Skilled craftsmen use high quality materials at every stage of manufacture, providing you with stables that last for decades, with the minimum of maintenance.

Construction of Scotts stables

Scotts loose boxes are manufactured in sections, from vacuum pressure impregnated European Redwood, which are bolted together and can be dismantled and re-erected if necessary. Scotts own dedicated installation team is responsible for the final construction of your stables. At an agreed date and time, the stables will be delivered and they will be built onto the prepared base. Scotts is happy to co-ordinate with specialist subcontractors, e.g. plumbers and electricians, so that the whole site is ready for the horses to move in, upon completion.

Guarantee

An all inclusive Scotts guarantee covers all the workmanship and materials for a 12 month period and there will always be a member of the stables team available to deal with any queries.
