The Hollidge family from Surrey are finally living their dream. After three years of developing their property into their vision of the perfect home, it is now an ideal space to bring up their three children and enjoy quality family time.It has not been easy. After the move they spent the first year living in a mobile home. They have now succeeded in remodelling the property into a modern high spec space. And, at the same time, retained the traditional characteristics you would expect from a country property in the Surrey Hills.

Sourcing and choosing all of the elements was a joy for Judy Hollidge.  As a former marketing consultant, Judy certainly put her creative flair to work. As well as using her project management skills, juggling all the contractors. However, it was adding the equestrian element that made this house a home.

Judy’s youngest two children are keen equestrians like herself.  It has been a lifelong dream to be able to see her horses from her kitchen window. Something that she now never takes for granted, especially as the Scotts stables blend beautifully with the style of her home.

The family take their horses out competing on the local equestrian circuit, as well as representing their school in NSEA competitions. However, when they are at home the Scotts stables have certainly enhanced their family time.

“Scotts incorporated a huge storage area into the design for all the family’s hobbies. My eldest son, who is not into horses, has even constructed his own climbing wall on the side of the yard. So, with the storage for all their bikes and outdoor equipment, all of the family interests are accommodated within this space” says Judy.

Judy’s husband, Tim, finds some pleasure in managing the land, even though he is not that interested in horses. “He plays his part keeping the fields in order, so we are a great team”, says Judy. “Driving the ATV, poo picking and hanging out with the family dog Jazz is probably great thinking time away from his business, the well-known fashion and lifestyle brand Oliver Bonas.

“I am so delighted with the Scotts stables, and could not have asked for a better service and finish.  Scotts worked closely with our Planning Consultants to achieve a design, for both the stables and garage, that we were happy with, but also that Waverley Council were happy with as we live in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.”

I have to pinch myself especially when I am relaxing by the pool in the summer, watching the horses and the children play. We are all so relaxed and happy here.”
