We all love a crisp Autumn to ease you into the winter.  Alas it’s been a rather soggy start.

Don’t despair, check out these little pick me ups the team from Scotts has researched.  We hope they help to get you through the rest of this season so you can look after your horse to your very best, and survive the winter in style.

1. Paint the tack room

Give your tack room a new lease of life with a lick of paint.  We love this look of half painted walls by Little Greene Paint and Paper

2. Buy some new mugs
There is nothing better than a warming drink after a wet soggy ride.

These lovely mugs are by Jennie Bell and are printed from her original paintings.  The sign post reads “Public Footpath” or it can be personalised, perhaps with your yard name?  Take a look at her website for more horse, dog, animal and countryside inspired mugs in ceramic, bone china and enamel.

3. Stock up on warm drinks

We love these Pukka Teas – their vibrant boxes look great all lined up on your shelves and there is a tea for every mood and taste.

Some Bouillon powder makes for a more hearty or satisfying drink after a cold wet ride and is far more healthy than other powdered instant soups.

4. Get a new saddle horse

Our Scotts saddle horses are a great addition to a tack room revamp, with baskets underneath for all your tack cleaning supplies and spare items. Match the colour scheme with your newly painted walls or to suit your livery colours.

5. Replenish your tack cleaning kit

Your tack will be getting wet and muddy, so make sure you stock up on plenty of cleaning kit ahead of the winter.  Go natural and plant based with your tack care and try this starter set from Safe Care Equine for £17.00

6. Restock your first aid kit

This Horseware emergency first aid kit is the most compact and comprehensive we have seen for both horse and rider.   A useful addition to your tack room for £31.99.

7. Door Handles

We love these door handles from And Mary. Incorporate these on your tack room door and we are sure they will bring you so much joy!  Choose from a beautiful bay or stunning dapple grey.

8. Invest in a heater
Check out these specialist tack room heaters from Equine Sun Switch, that instantly take off the chill and reduce humidity. A fully adjustable controller allows you to leave the heater on safely all night to combat damp that might damage your valuable tack and equipment.

9. Spare socks

Keep a few spare pairs of socks in your kit, there is nothing worse than water splashing down into your boots on a cold day!  We love these camel lace tops from Powder.

We hope you find these ideas useful to get you through the winter months in style.
