For the Refurbishment Range of external windows and doors, Scotts glazes into shallow rebates to enable section sizes to be kept as close to single glazed units as possible.
Scotts adopts a solid bedded silicone wet glazing system in accordance with the Glass and Glazing Federation requirements. Products are internally glazed with an ‘applied bar’ system when it comes to glazing bars on our Refurbishment Range of external windows and doors.
On the outside face of the window the chamfered external bars are designed to ensure fast water run-off and replicate a traditional puttied profile. These are traditionally jointed to the sash frame.
The double glass unit is then glazed in the factory from the inside with a matching integral spacer bar configuration inside the cavity of the glazed unit. Finally, the internal ovolo or lambs tongue profiled glazing bar is then produced as a one-piece internal grille (that ensures all scribed joints are perfectly formed).
Integral and perimeter spacer bars within the cavity of the glass units are available in white (standard) and black (option) and suitable for windows with either 21mm or 18mm glazing bars. The unit depths for the Krypton filled glass units, used for the Refurbishment Range, are 16mm (4mm tough: 8mm Krypton: 4mm tough).
