Part Q (2016) of Building Regulations – PAS 24
Since 1st October 2015, any new build project has been required to be compliant with Part Q of Building Regulations.
Approved Document Q is designed to ensure the prevention of unauthorised access to dwellings. Any external windows and doors that could be easily accessed, in an attempted break-in, must be capable of resisting physical attack by a ‘casual or opportunist’ individual.
Windows and doors that are deemed easily accessible include all those at ground floor or basement level as well as those that can be easily accessed above ground floor level; for example, balcony doors or those in first floor level roofs with a low pitch or those accessible by a fire escape.
Products from the Scotts New Build Joinery Range have all been tested and certified as Part Q 2016 compliant. Every part of the product has been tested to achieve the PAS 24 certification, which verifies that a UKAS accredited certification body has monitored their performance to the required standard.
