DESIGNED FOR REFURBISHMENT PROJECTS
Timber bi-fold doors are as popular as ever for homeowners who want to maximise the opening area from inside to outside.
The Refurbishment Range is the first choice for a replacement doors and window project where the emphasis is strongly on the subtleties of aesthetic appearance. Security, however, remains a priority.
HOW IT WORKS
Timber bi-fold doors are supplied in a variety of different opening combinations to suit your requirements. They are generally found to the rear of the property opening out onto a garden or terrace from kitchens, dining or living areas of the house.
Scotts timber bi-fold doors are top hung and open out. Most combinations are able to provide a ‘pass’ or ‘traffic’ door that enable just one of the sections to open and shut independently of the others when it is not practical or required to open up the entire bank of door leaves. This will be operated by a lever handle which will operate a latch and an espagnolette locking system like our single and French doors.
The multiple leaves in a bi-folding door are fitted into a top hung track system and held shut by a series of shoot bolts that secure the leaves in the closed position into the outer frame. When the shoot bolts are released, the door leaves are then free to slide and fold back on themselves to one (or sometimes both) sides in a concertina motion. This enables large openings to be fully opened up – which no other door type can achieve.
