Fulfilling Client Needs with a Mixed-Use Building
The project had several requirements and we worked closely with our client throughout the whole process. This close consultation included a site visit, design, planning drawings and a full site survey. The building quickly became a reality as it took just over eight weeks from initial consultation to installation.
The building serves several purposes and provides a tool store and workspace as well as a day room and communal area, which includes a kitchenette and WC.
The environmentally friendly building also provides a tailor-made secure garage for two vehicles and machinery and a central log store.
The project was an interesting build as it required designing to fit into an existing bank with retained walls. It is clad in Siberian larch, which provides great longevity with minimal maintenance. The doors were also clad with larch to match the rest of the building and oak posts were added to enhance the design features. Additionally, the client chose to have a cedar shingle roof to ensure the building naturally blended into its’ surroundings.
Sun tunnels were incorporated into the efficient construction to provide natural lighting, while louvred windows are an attractive way of providing ventilation.
