At the beginning of the season Scotts of Thrapston was extremely excited to announce their title sponsorship of CCI1* and CCI2* course walks at British Eventing events for 2015, and now with 2 events having taken place, the response from riders who have taken part has been an amazing boost.

Through this sponsorship the riders competing at the two events so far Houghton and Hopetoun, have been given access to internationally renowned coaches Caroline Moore, Nick Turner, Philip Surl and Christie Wright who have provided first-timers and more experienced riders alike with their expert advice on how to tackle the cross country phase at this level, with four to five course walks scheduled for each event.

We recently asked the riders for some feedback and the responses really make the sponsorship come alive:

“Thank you, the course walk really helped with the way I rode the more technical fences”

“It was really helpful to not just know where the minute markers were but how to plan the time so I finished with a horse that wasn’t too tired for the next day”

“The advice on warm up and cool down was useful and the back up support after the XC was invaluable”

“It was fun to walk in a small group to discuss different thoughts so I could go away with an effective plan”

“I seemed to gain more confidence walking with someone who was very positive and this had a massive impact on the way I rode the track”

Scotts is delighted to be supporting more riders with the chance to raise their standards and compete safely at this level. So if you are going to be competing at any of the events below for your first time we would love you to get in touch. We are looking for riders who want the extra accountability and exposure to tell the world about the thrills and spills as they prepare for their first event and beyond through an online blog.

Osberton International (1-4 October)
Weston Park International (8-11 October)
Aldon International (22-25 October)

The chosen riders will be supported by Scotts with a branded saddle cloth, and their profile will be promoted giving them exposure on the Scotts website, blog and social media channels in partnership with British Eventing.
