Penny, from Tonbridge in Kent, chose a Baltimore small summerhouse from the Scotts range, painted in Sage and finished with the addition of a shelf feature with diamond-leaded glass. Installed in her garden in 2022, Penny particularly enjoys her summerhouse on sunny days when the breeze is too cold for her to sit in the garden.
Penny said, “Because my cottage is joined to another at the rear, I only benefit from the sun in the morning. I was looking for a place where I could relax and enjoy the sunshine later in the day. My garden is quite small so although I looked at a larger model, I decided that the 2m Baltimore summerhouse would be the ideal size. As I live on my own, this model delivers all the space I need. My summerhouse is lovely and warm, and especially useful in the spring and autumn. It’s perfect for sharing a cup of tea for two, playing a game of cards, or reading my book outdoors in a sunny spot.
“My mother had bought an identical summerhouse about ten years ago and it has lasted very well, and she still enjoys it. As well as being familiar with my mother’s summerhouse, I visited a show site where there are several different Scotts models on display.
“I also visited several garden centres to take a look at lower cost summerhouse models, but none matched the quality and attractiveness of Scotts’ buildings. The only other option would have been to commission a custom-made summerhouse, but I was keen not to overstretch my limited budget.
“As my property is a listed building, I went through the process of securing planning permission before ordering my summerhouse. Once the base was in position, I agreed a delivery date with Scotts, and they took care of the installation from start to finish.
“I really love my summerhouse and enjoy relaxing there in the sun especially during the afternoons. The building is excellent quality and Scotts is a very nice company to deal with.”
